About University College London

University College London (UCL) was the first University in London and the third oldest English University. It was founded in 1826 as “London University” to open up opportunities for English education to anyone interested, despite their different cultures, social backgrounds, gender, ethnicity etc. they come from. UCL is primarily based in Bloomsbury, London, although it has other campuses spread around London.

The attitude of liberalism has brought the university to the forefronts in the higher education field. UCL is ranked the 4th from all the world universities by the Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings. UCL proudly boasts of 21 of its students being Noble Laureates and of having the highest number of professors and also female professors from among any UK university.

UCL offers more than 200 degrees in traditional fields of studies, with practically every subject that is internationally outstanding. UCL students also can study abroad as 46 of the 100 Top World Universities are partners along with 150 research links and 129 student-exchange partnerships with European and American Universities. UCL is also a voluntary constituent of the University of London.

Accommodations for students are provided by the UCL in its halls. However, mostly the first year students stay in, as it is cheaper to share the cost of a rent out apartment outside among the friends. The UCL is equipped with all other facilities for an enjoyable study life.

The UCL Student Union is deemed to be England's oldest Student Union. It provides clubs and society facilities, advice, lounges, cafes and bars for recreation.
