About Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park is a famous theme park with the slogan of “Nation's Thriller Capital”, located in the city of Chertsey in Surrey. True to its slogan, it indeed has proved itself to be The Thriller Capital! It had drawn more than 1.7 million thriller seekers in 2007, making it the third most visited theme park in the United Kingdom and the thirteenth in Europe.  

This park consists of 24 rides; 6 rollercoaster rides and 4 water rides. It covers an area of 500 acres, which is split into 8 areas. They are Port Atlantis; contains various facilities and eating places, Lost City, Calypso Quay, Canada Creek, Amity Cove, Ranger County, Neptune's Kingdom and the Octopus Garden; the aquatic area. The most famous rides here are Nemesis Inferno; the first European rollercoaster with inverted corkscrews, horror movie themed SAW: The Ride, Stealth; a rollercoaster that accelerates to 80 mph in about 1.8 seconds, X:\No Way Out; the world's first backward rollercoaster and many more.        

The Thorpe Park is situated 20 miles from Central London. Take the 12 or 13 junction from M25 and follow through A320 to the park, if you are coming by car. Parking is free. This place has plenty of public transport options too. Suppose you are taking the train, the closest station is Staines. Alternatively, you could also take the buses 426 or 446 from Woking, buses 950, 951, 426, 446, 451, 461 or 551 from Staines and buses 451, 426, 461 or 446 from Heriot Road in Chertsey.

The season for thrills through the Thorpe Park is from February to November. The opening times vary from 10.00am to 10.00pm depending on the time of the year. But, it definitely is open till 5.00pm everyday during the operating season.

Location

By Car

THORPE PARK is within easy reach of London. From the M25 take junctions 11 or 13* and follow A320 to THORPE PARK.

By Train

Regular South West Trains run from Waterloo direct to Staines. The 950 shuttle link operates from Staines station to the Park running every half hour. Trains also run regularly from Reading and Guildford to Staines Station.

An alternative route is available to Chertsey Station (2 trains an hour to Chertsey from Waterloo via Staines except on Sundays when there is one an hour) then catch either 451 bus from stop marked B on the Eastworth Road, or 446 at stop D 2 minutes away (out of the station forecourt turn left and across the traffic lights) journey time 5 minutes with 4 buses per hour on each route except on Sundays one every 2 hours.


By Bus

Staines Bus station is a 5 minute walk from the railway station. Buses for THORPE PARK depart from Stand 2, however, the 950 THORPE PARK Express departs directly from Staines Railway Station. Other services operate as follows.
